Dog Training and Behaviour Modification

What can I do to help you and your dog?

At Four Paws Training Academy we aim to provide quality training or behavior therapy to educate owners and provide solutions to help and guide our canine family members.

Whether you are thinking about getting a dog, just brought a puppy or a rescue dog into your home, or would like to help your dog with a few struggles in life... I can help. Getting to know your dog so you know what they're saying to you, helps build confidence, and seeing their accomplishments not only will fill you with joy, give your dog the building blocks in life.

We do this by using positive reinforcement and games. Teaching your dog to engage with you, stay close and be happy is the key.

One to One Training

One-to-one sessions are either taught in a public place, private field, your home, or garden. Whatever will suit the training purpose. This has proven to be a brilliant way to teach as your puppy/dog will learn to prove their training and behaviors in all different situations and areas, not just a training field or village hall. Real-life situations which you wouldn’t get with normal training.

At the start, a Dog History form is sent to you to fill out. This can be filled out in your own time, as honest and detailed as possible.  After I have received your information back, I will then arrange a convenient time to come and visit you and your dog. This will usually be in an environment where your dog is comfortable or in the environment where the behavior occurs. I will then explain what is happening and how we will help your dog. I will show you some games to start and help the training process. This first session normally lasts around 1-1/2 hours. Following the first session, you will either receive a written account of the assessment, or you will be given a plan for each session, depending on what we are rectifying.

We have a minimum policy of 3 sessions, even though many struggles can be corrected in one session, we still give support beyond to ensure progress and the behavior is sustained. Training and Therapy are successful if you focus on progress over time, rather than a quick fix!

Once your package has finished we don't just disappear and leave you to it. You will be invited to a members page on Facebook, which has up-to-date information on training and offers! We include phone, e-mail, WhatsApp, and support for up to one year after your training.

Please note - Behaviour issues are often linked to injury/illness. We recommend that your dog is checked over by your vet before contacting us.

Dog Parkour

What is Dog Parkour? It is a fun, challenging, physical activity to keep your dog's body and mind healthy! It combines elements of parkour and dog agility to create a team between dog and owner. Dogs are safely introduced to jumping, climbing, balancing on, crawling, and going around different obstacles in their everyday world. I teach two types of Dog Parkour, Built - where we use different items to make obstacles for our dogs to use, or Nature - where we go out and about looking for fallen trees, stumps, walls, and what else we can find!

Dog Parkour helps with confidence and overcoming fears. Dogs must be over 9 months old and have a supportive Y harness.

To learn Natural Parkour, we will meet up at a location and find obstacles to work with. The venues may be Fosse Meadows, Burbage Common, and Whistle Way.

Max 4 dogs in a group. 3 sessions at Littlethorpe Scouts Building, and 3 sessions at different locations. 45 - 60 min each session.

The sessions start at 12:45 pm, though this may vary when we're at a different venue.
You will be given information on what we’ve covered in each session. Have access to a private What's App group, which will include videos to help you recap.
