Service Description

Free Work, Observation, Connection, Understanding, Sensory We’d love to share something truly special with you—the opportunity to connect with your dog in a calm, peaceful way that helps them rebalance and reset. This workshop is open to all caregivers and their canine companions. We also welcome those who may not be able to bring their dog, as well as professionals interested in deepening their understanding of dog behaviour. Free Work was developed by the wonderful canine companions of ACE (Animal Centred Education) founder Sarah Fisher at Tilley Farm, Bath. Sarah is a true inspiration to all of us at Four Paws, and we continue to learn and grow through the ACE modules—with our own companions as our tutors every step of the way. One at a time, our dogs will become our tutors. We’ll observe them exploring Free Work stations, paying attention to posture, movement, preferences, and habits. Caregivers will be encouraged to connect with their dogs through calm, slow actions. Through observation, you’ll learn what small adjustments may support your dog’s movement and overall wellbeing. Each station will involve sensory elements: sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste. Up to four dogs will participate, each having one or two Free Work sessions depending on their individual needs. Between sessions, dogs will rest in your vehicle. You're welcome to stay with them or check on them anytime for comfort, toileting, or a leg stretch. The car park will be secure and locked. A wide variety of Free Work equipment will be available in the hall, but you’re welcome to bring your own. We’ll help you set up your stations and guide you throughout the day. Before the workshop, you’ll receive a FOCUS Workshop booklet packed with useful information. It will cover what to bring on the day, the equipment we’ll be using, basic canine information on decompression, what behaviours we may observe, and a schedule for the day. After the workshop, you’ll receive a video of your dog’s session(s), along with personalised feedback and advice if needed, helping you continue the connection and learning beyond the day itself. Fee £95 Refreshments included throughout the day. Venue - Littlethorpe Scouts Building, Narborough, LE19 2HR
